Embracing the Truth

by Vanessa Ebner

"As for joy, you cannot separate joy from truth. There is no joy in ignoring or denying truth. The rejection of truth is the rejection of joy. And by embracing truth, even truth that is difficult and unpleasant, we are made ready to really embrace joy."

— Randy Alcorn

When was the last time you stopped to give thanks for all the dis-ease in your life? I know now you are thinking well why would I do a thing like that! All the uneasiness is not something to be thankful for but oh quite on the contrary my friend, it is! Until we embrace what hurts that hurt hangs around longer and keeps the changes lingering in the background. It's the changes that come to you or are wanting to that get stuck by your not waking up to the truth of the matter at hand.

Even our unpleasantness is for a reason. We get so used to doing and going along with others thoughts and ideas we forget about our own. The World Wide Web is becoming to the whole wide world a resource where we seek out comfort and compassion from others. It is here that we link up with those who seem to be going through exactly what we are. Yes that old saying "Misery loves company" is quite alive today! Really now, when was the last time you heard someone say they disagree with you and that what they are going through is no where directly connected to what you are going through? I often wonder why that is, don't you? Why aren't others speaking the truth even if it hurts! Don't you think that is what we need to become unstuck?

I tend to think that if we would quit contemplating so much about all that is wrong to us in our life and give thanks in advance for having received already all that we do want that it would move the energy along much faster! Stop being so agreeable to save face! Yes, that's what I said stop being so willing to agree you are in the same boat as others!

When you do speak out and say let's look at the positive side of this uneasiness you are going through, give thanks for the lesson it brings to you, and move on to another situation if that be the case that needs the same attention, you will see the things begin to change and bring you all that you do want to replace it a lot quicker than remaining in the past saying, "woe is me!"

Reality bites at times we all know this! But I don't recall anyone saying this life would be easy! However, it can be easier if we realize we are given one tool, our vocal cords, so we can give thanks now for all we want to come to us, then allow it to appear effortlessly. Focusing on the positive sure has its rewards! Not pushing for things to happen does too! When you give thanks in advance you are saying to the Universe you are grateful for it bringing you what you want even before you receive it. You are saying to your mind hey look I know I am getting this and I will not listen to or hang onto all the what ifs you bring to my thought process.

Is it easy to make this a process constant in your every day living? Yes, it is when you make up your mind that this is how it will be and you will not put yourself in the same boat as others. You are unique! Get your own boat and enjoy the smooth sailing. Stop feeling like you have to take care of all the details or worrying about the boat you're in sinking! Life is good; remember that! No matter what it brings to you, you are the one who will choose what to do with the things it brings to light in your life. Look at each one and reflect on the lesson it brings, learn it and get the hell out of that boat! Choose now to give thanks ahead of time for the things that you dream of in your future! Making it happen doesn't have to be agonizing at all. Stop fighting the feelings, stop jumping into a sinking boat and sail into the sunset with peace, joy, and happiness as your anchor!

"The happiness of a man in this life does not consist in the absence but in the mastery of his passions."

— Alfred Lord Tennyson
