A Hebrew theology based on esoteric doctrine. Spelling used when discussing the spread of Kabbalistic teaching and symbols into Christian circles during the Renaissance.

cabinet

A small space in seance room set off by panels or curtains in which a medium may be isolated for the purpose of concentrating psychic power and emanating ectoplasm for spirits to form materializations or transfigurations. With some mediums, materializations will occur inside the curtain space. By withdrawing the curtains the sitters may see the forms.

cadent houses

Third, sixth, ninth, and twelfth houses in astrology representing compromise.

call

Subject's guess in trying to identify the target in an ESP test.

Process of producing an effect. The transmission processes of spirit-to-medium communication have not been scientifically identified. Some transmitting methods are known to work with dependable regularity; therefore, as pragmatically accepted. Pragmatic acceptances are foundations to many of the realities of ESP.

cause and effect, Hermetic principle of

Known also as the law of Karma: every thought, every belief, every action has a reaction, an effect. Noted in the Christian tradition as "casting one's bread upon the water" to return in due time in the wisdom of the Higher; also as the concept that we shall reap what we have sown.

(Sanskrit) A wheel or vortex of energy that exists in several parts of the physical body. We have seven major Chakras which correspond to Seven major glands. Chakras are used in energy and healing work.

channel

Person who is used to transmit communications, energies, thoughts, or deeds from a discarnate soul or entity.

Cherubim

These angels supervise the elementals, emanate wisdom, intone truth, perceive the will, and hold the form for the cosmic plan. Religion of beliefs and practices claiming to come from the teaching of Jesus; hundreds of denominations of professed ways to worship Jesus, all important to the person who feels their Bible interpretations is correct.

consciousness

1. State of the mind, the senses and physical awareness allowing a person to know of his existence, sensitivities and relationship to environment. 2. Spirit communication with the developing medium ultimately registers on the consciousness for the medium to know the message content and to be able to use mind and physical faculties for transmitting on to the intended receiver. Consciousness originates in the physical and once formed it becomes what is really you. It enters the subconscious where it may become the consciousness of the inner spirit body.

construct

1. Stable pattern of consciousness. 2. Intelligently fashioned vehicle manifesting to human vision or as a UFO.

contact

Connection with someone else on this or another plane of existence.

Contemplation

Similar to meditation; the act of holding a thought or object before the mental vision and observing the thought from many perspectives.

Continuity of Life

A Spiritualist tenet stating that there is eternal life and that the discarnate world can and does communicate with the physical world. Demonstrations are usually performed by mediums in a seance.

control

Discarnate spirit that seems to take physical control of a medium.

cooperator (co-operator)

An entity, carnate or discarnate, who supports or aids another in any psychic activity.

cosmic energy

1. Law of movement keeping all atoms vibrating. 2. Energy permeating all space necessary to all like, known and unknown.

cosmobiology

Russian and Eastern European term for astrology.

cosmogony

(Greek cosmo "the universe as an orderly whole") The study of how the universe was created according to Genesis; the story of steps of development. Not to be confused with cosmology.

cosmology

(esoteric) The study of the primordial elements; Fire, Air, Water, Earth, Space, Time, and Gravity; the laws governing their functions in relation to humanity.

coven

Witchcraft circle.

CR

Critical Ratio; method of determining whether the observed deviation in ESP testing is significantly above chance.

Craft, The

A commonly used synonym for Wicca, or witchcraft.

Creator

The Source, God, the supreme intelligence that created Totality, is the essence of Totality, and is the law sustaining it (Universal Law); one main principal behind all there is and everything being a part of that one main principle.

crystal

crystal ball

A sphere of crystal used by a diviner in revealing events or esoteric knowledge.

cult

A group of people working together and bound together by the same ideal, principle, and charismatic leader, usually of a religious nature; system or sect becomes object of devotion and is not to be confused with occult. Members must adhere to a strong belief system, behavior is dictated and must conform, expectations of routine and defined, and allegiance is expected or commanded. A cult is empowered primarily by the strong allegiance that binds the organization or group. The cult concept is unwelcome to free thinkers.

cupping

Oriental healing technique of placing glass cups on specific meridians and points to cleanse, toxify, or reduce tension.

cups

1. Tarot suit associated with love and wisdom. 2. Cups possessing magic properties appear in Celtic legend. The Quadrangular Cup of the Fenians gave a person any drink he desired. Other magic cups cured dumbness, or brought good luck.

current

Psychic energy. Also, sometimes used to suggest movement of any vaporous, smoke-like etheral substance, such as the extruding of the Beta or astral body from the physical.

cusp

Line or interface between two houses of a horoscope.

cycle

A series of occurrences which repeats itself in a specific pattern with precision timing and no regard to outer changing conditions; an action of anything in the universe that repeats itself with a similarity at constant intervals; all life is held together in concentric patterns.

cycle of personal life situations

Period from birthday to birthday; divides 365 days by seven, making periods 52 1/7 days, out of which one period is especially good for expressing the inner nature of the person, like traveling, strengthening of the psychic powers, etc.

cycle of soul-mind progression

Theory: every eighteen years, seven months and a few days there occurs a particular relationship between a person's soul-mind and the etheric world; beginning at the age of 18/19 and then following at the ages of 37/38, 55/56, 74/75.

cycles of the ages

Theory that every 26,000 years our solar system makes one revolution around a great central sun, and the completion of one such cycle constitutes one age (Piscean Age, Aquarian Age).

cycle of progression

The periodicity of material or worldly affairs which will have its lows and highs, regardless of the people on the planet, people will influence the degree of lows and highs, but will not influence a smooth running world; e.g., history repeats itself every 100 years.
