nadis

Numerous points created by lines of energy crossing and criss-crossing in the etheric, or energy, non-physical body. In esoteric thought, inherited from the wisdom of the East, each body is believed to have a number of nadis, or energy pressure points, to help the body maintain good circulation and balance.

namaste

(Hindu) "The Presence within me greets the Presence within you." Folded hands touch the third eye chakra and then the heart chakra in this greeting - an ancient mudra to give blessings of light.

name number

Number in numerology secured by transferring the letters in a person's name to numbers.

Nanak

Indian Guru, founder of the Sikh Dharma; first of ten gurus; 1469-1539.

narcolepsy

A spontaneous attack of deep sleep lasting for a short time.

natal astrology

Study of individual birth charts.

natural astrology

Study of earthquakes, tidal waves and other climatic and environmental influences.

natural foods

Whole foods; foods grown or processed with a minimum of refining, additives, preservatives, hormones, chemical fertilizers, or pesticides; often but not necessarily organic.

natural healers

Pertaining to healing with natural methods and ingredients (Not to be confused with a person born with healing abilities).

naturalism

All phenomena can be explained as of natural law and cause, with no supernatural association.

natural law

An unchangeable principle of the universe set in motion to govern all that has been created in the beginning. God working within the individual.

natural magic

Use of psychic energy stored in animals, herbs, stones, numbers, and all other phenomena. It uses the principle of macrocosm and microcosm.

nature religion

A symbolic center and the cluster of beliefs, behaviors, and values that encircles it based on wilderness identification as well as a passionate concern for place and mastery in society.

nature spirits

Highly intelligent ethereal force inhabiting all of earth's air, earth, water, and fire; each having special functions in natural or manufactured things.

naturopathy

Science of treating sickness through natural remedies, e.g., air, sunshine, saunas, as opposed to drugs or medication.

NDE (Near Death Experience)

Powerful experience often following an accident or sickness, in which the journeyer approaches a bright light through a long tunnel in which spirits float and enters a world of light, love, and bliss.

"Divination with the dead" The art of predicting future by professed communication with spirits of the departed.

negative deviation

In psi performance the tendency to miss a target by consistent scoring on the non-positive side. Mental state or condition of personality correlates may be causative factors.

neo-paganism

Movement devoted to nature worship, polytheism, Goddess worship, ancient tribal religions.

neo-platonism

Syncrestic mystical philosophy teaching emanations radiating through the universe from the ultimate one.

Neptune

The planet that indicates spiritual expression. Its placement in a horoscope reveals where we must face illusion or delusion. A well-aspected Neptune can help us with active creativity and imagination, usually after we have elevated our spiritual understanding. Ruler of Pisces, it is considered Ray 6 in nature.

networking

To communicate actively with others, sharing information, contacts, experiences, insights, etc, that contribute to the benefit of the whole.

Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP)

A psychology of communications recognizing the link between linguistics and physiology understanding such factors as tone of voice, pitch, body posture, eye movements.

neurophysiological

Most often used in relating to the measurement and testing of reactions in mind, nerves or physical organs during a subject's psi experiencing. Exampleweighing a medium during a materialization to find if there is any weight change when ectoplasm is externalized.

New Age

Movement of emerging planetary consciousness devoted to more peaceful place to live based on respect for humanity's diverse traditional ways of life in harmony with the environment and the spiritual.

New Thought

Mind development movement founded by Phineas Quimby, 19th century. The potential of the human brain being limitless one has the ability to use the mind to control his or her physical body and their entire lifestyle; one has a consciousness that one creates one self, which can be changed and elevated to better one's affairs in each incarnation.

new Moon

A phase of the physical Moon when lunar influences assist in rapid new growth – a time for planting new thoughts, beginning anew, and being receptive to changes in one's life.

Nichiren Soshu

Japanese Buddhist movement devoted to Nichiren, the fiery founder (1222-82), and his teachings.

Nine Star Ki

Japanese system of Oriental astrology, numerology, directionology and study of destiny based on a Magic Table of nine basic stages of energy flow; derived from the Later Heaven Diagram of the I Ching.

ninth house

Segment of the horoscope dealing with travel, the law, philosophy, and dreams.

ninety-minute cycle

Universal pattern of rapid eye movement (REM) or dream sleep repeating itself every 90-minutes during the night.

Nirvana

"To extinguish." Cessation of attachment to desire, delusion; enlightenment; Buddha mind; state beyond life, death, or rebirth attained through awareness or at death.

Noble Eightfold Path

Way to end suffering taught by Buddharight view, right speech, right resolve, right conduct, right livelihood, right effort, right recollection, right contemplation.

noctural arc

Lower half of a horoscope, night path of the sun symbolizing the unconscious, what is to be worked upon.

noetic

Intellectual activity; in psi refers to the activity of intellectual exchange, the processes from psychic origin to psychic reception.

nominalism

The theory that reality exists only in physical objects; universals or abstract concepts represent no existing real things, so having no objective reference are no more than their names. An opposite of Realism.

nonalert brain wave patterns

Marks on the readout of EEG instruments showing patterns associated with non-attention of the subject.

nonbrain alpha waves

Biofeedback readouts appearing to be alpha waves on the instrument but are caused by artifacts; movements of hair, muscles, twitches, breathing and perspiration in the area of the electrodes cause alpha wave patterns, that can be misleading.

non-causal phenomena

That which is termed luck or fate.

non-human intelligence

(ufology) Life forms seen in outer space and in space photographs having a reasonable amount of intelligence but not resembling the human species.

non-material

Not of substance known to earth's sciences, such as ectoplasm.

non-physical

Not compounded of material substances of earth sciences. Inference, generally, is that the thing referred to may have substance, but substance of unknown nature and primarily of the etheric realm or spirit controlled.

non-physical phenomenon

A happening not explained by known natural laws of matter or kinetic energy.

north

Place where one reports to the master on accomplishments in the I Ching.

northern signs

Aries through Virgo.

nudity dreams

Dreams that tell the dreamer that they are unprepared in some phase of their life, often relating to honesty.

numen

1. A spirit inhabiting natural phenomena, places, or objects. 2. creative genius.

numerology

Any system of prediction effected by use of numbers. It appears the different numerology "systems" give similar results. The power involved, therefore, may be a psi power rather than a system based upon occult meanings of numbers arrangements, etc. The rudimentary characteristics of numbers are1 will, initiating power, striving; 2 love-wisdom, maintaining, humanity; 3 active intelligence, mediating, creativity; 4 conflict, foundation, future; 5 exactness, change, freedom; 6 devotion, family, harmony; 7 spirituality, right-relationship, community; 8 power, resources, responsibility; 9 universality, joy, service; 0 higher expression of the quality of the number it acompanies.
